Our Herd: The Backbone of Healing
In 2025 and beyond, BRCTH will be looking into expanding our services to include school and group home programs, community service and vocational opportunities for adults with developmental delay, more programming for seniors in our community and piloting an EAL program for persons with brain injury, while continuing to increase the numbers of students who are individually referred for services. Please contact us, or pass along our contact information, if you know of an aforementioned entity that could benefit from our services.
Honey Bee
Honey has been with us the longest and has been serving students since 2010. Her small stature and kind eye make her very approachable, especially for new students. Built like a miniature draft horse, Honey loves to eat and is always on a diet. Her flaxen mane and tail are her best features, and she loves to flirt with the boys!
Butter Bean
Butter Bean, or BB, is the newest member of the herd. He is a Belgian, one of the heavy breeds. Despite his size, he is kind and sweet and has become the favorite of those who rode him this past session. He is eager to be out on the trails and his confidence spills over to his riders. Slow and steady would be a good way to describe this big, handsome boy. And that gorgeous mane and tail!
Dillon
Dillon’s versatility and dependability make him the ideal therapy horse. He’s our number one choice for training horse leaders. He started his life out in Montana as a pack horse and has a very distinct brand. His beautiful liver chestnut coat and his handsome blazed face make him quite photogenic. He loves to roll and usually wins the ‘who can be muddiest’ competition!
Dublin
Dublin comes to us from central VA where he spent his earlier years as a show hunter, pleasure horse, and 4-H mount, performing in drill team and parades. Similar to Dillon, he can transition seamlessly from carrying a small child on a bareback pad to carrying an independent adult in a saddle. Running a close 2nd to Dillon, he regularly manages to cover his entire head in mud!
